Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the dialectic of social prevention of destructive manifestations in penitentiary institutions. In the conditions of the penal enforcement system, the need for a comprehensive impact on convicts in order to minimize negative social phenomena such as aggressive behavior, criminal subculture, psychological degradation and destructive forms of adaptation to isolation conditions becomes particularly relevant.

The paper examines the main contradictions of the social prevention process related to the dual nature of the penitentiary system, combining repressive and educational functions. The author analyzes the mechanisms of influence on the personality of a convicted person, aimed at forming positive social attitudes, legal awareness and skills of constructive interaction with society. Special attention is paid to the importance of educational, labor and rehabilitation programs that contribute to reducing recidivism and successful socialization.

The author emphasizes the need to integrate socio-psychological and legal methods of prevention, which will not only control negative trends in places of detention, but also create conditions for the transformation of the convict’s personality. The conclusions of the article are aimed at improving the system of social prevention, the formation of a humanistic approach in penitentiary practice and improving the effectiveness of penal enforcement policy.
