Abstract. Communication technologies occupy a key position in the structure of modern society, having a significant impact on all aspects of social, economic and cultural activities. In the context of the rapid development of the information space, their role becomes especially significant, since they influence the formation of new models of social interaction. Communication technologies have been integrated into political discourse since ancient times, having a significant impact on the formation of public consciousness and social identities. Communicative technologies of political communication allow not only to disseminate information quickly and effectively, but also to influence people’s thinking and feelings, opening up new opportunities for politicians and experts in shaping public opinion and promoting their own political concepts. The purpose of our research is to study the role of communication technologies in political discourse and to study their influence on the formation of public consciousness in the direction set by the authorities. The research was based on a comprehensive methodological approach, including a comparative analytical method, a behaviorist method, as well as a system analysis method. Based on the results of this work, it was concluded that the ideological mechanisms of influencing mass consciousness used in the implementation of communication policy are inevitably manipulative. The theoretical and practical significance of our research is due to the fact that it contributes to the understanding of communication technologies in political discourse, thanks to the identified specific features and the analysis carried out. The identified and substantiated mechanism of using political technologies to form public opinion can be used in educational projects on communication theory and related fields of knowledge, depending on the strategies of political communication.
