Abstract. The article presents the results of a study of political technologies aimed at maintaining stability in a multicultural social environment at the macro level; two main approaches aimed at assessing the specifics of social interaction with the participation of representatives of different ethnic groups are considered, what the specifics of these approaches are and in what key aspects they differ; presents aspects of building interethnic interaction through external manifestations of social activity of representatives of ethnically marked members of society, implemented by representatives of small ethnic groups at the level of the host region. In sufficient detail, in relation to the current situation in Russian society, the article describes existing scenarios that determine the emergence of interethnic contradictions in society, including: the natural process of updating cultural differences between representatives of different ethnic groups, the manifestation at the level of the social environment of contradictions between different ethnic groups that exist outside its framework, the transition of an interpersonal conflict that is not related to the sphere of interethnic relations to the intergroup level as a result of the identification of the ethnicity of the participants and its actualization in the public consciousness.
The author presents a brief analysis of the micropolitical level of regulation of interethnic relations in a multicultural region, identifies key patterns and philosophical principles that determine the dynamics of interpersonal relationships and interactions in small groups, indicating the deep influence of cultural codes on the processes of communication and perception of the «other» at the micro level, which allows us to understand how cultural stereotypes and prejudices are formed in small social groups and how they affect mutual understanding between individuals.
The continuing significant risks of worsening interethnic interaction associated with the growth of conflict and, in particular, its transition to the level of intergroup confrontation are described.
