Actualization of the geopolitical strategy «Anaconda Loop» as a Risk factor of the National security strategy of the Russian Federation

Abstract. Formed after the collapse of the USSR in December 1991, the Belovezhskaya geopolitical era is characterized by a different order of international relations between states. Instead of the bipolar system that existed in the second half of the 20th century, a unipolar one came, where the result of the Cold War was the victory of the United States. They have become the only hegemon in the international arena. The United States, realizing its geopolitical superiority, began to implement its policy, without taking into account the opinions of a number of states, on the principles of the Versailles system, where the main idea was to eliminate Russia as an independent actor in the international arena. Taking into account recent events, the current geopolitical situation is characterized by a bright dynamism of relations between a number of states. The modern foreign policy strategy of the Russian Federation has a clear bias in the eastern direction, which was actualized with the beginning of a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine in 2022. Nevertheless, the change of the western vector to the eastern one within the framework of the realization of geopolitical interests is not so much due to the existing complex socio-political situation around the country. The issues raised in the scientific article are of high interest for studying the theoretical foundations of geopolitical strategies that were developed in the 40s of the XX century and have been updated in recent years. In this article, the author, referring to the theoretical foundations of geopolitics, explores the fundamental works of well-known geopolitics, which allowed the formation of a modern strategy «Anaconda Loop» — an explicit and ongoing part of the foreign policy of Western European states led by the United States to form a geopolitical ring of tension around Russia and the destruction of the geopolitical positions of our Fatherland.
