Abstract. The work is devoted to the study of the impact of labor automation on social processes. Attention is focused on the approach of mankind to the point of singularity and Raymond Kurzweil’s technological forecasts. The consistency of these forecasts with the law of compaction of historical time is emphasized. Arguments are given for the currently growing speed of information technology development. The advantages of automation of human labor are listed. The special role of artificial intelligence in the context of automation is highlighted. The hypothetical loss of jobs with the growth of labor automation, as well as the risk categories of working specialties, the automation of which is most likely in the near future, are considered. The definition of the social process and its typification are given. The conclusion about the symbiosis of the existence of people in society as a result of the course of social processes is given. Social processes are considered in detail on the example of the interaction of the inhabitants of the village. The influence of labor automation on the nature of the interaction of people in the village is indicated. Analyzing the degradation of social processes in the context of labor automation, this article makes an important contribution to the academic and practical discussion about the social and economic consequences of automation, emphasizing the need for a deeper understanding and consideration of social aspects in all automation processes. It is concluded that a decrease in the need for each other degrades all types of social processes. A sign of the beginning degradation of social processes is singled out. The possibility of aggravating the degradation of social processes is emphasized, provided that mankind is provided with an unconditional basic income and the basic needs of Maslow’s pyramid are met. An assumption is made about the cardinal influence of the degradation of social processes on political and socio-political processes.
