The acuteness of the problem under consideration is manifested in the rapidly changing system of social and political processes that determine the nature of the understanding of them that is being formed among the majority of the population. The article is devoted to the theoretical and empirical analysis of the phenomenon of political consciousness of youth from the position of its significance for the information war. In accordance with the chosen approach, the peculiarities of information on different age groups of the population are determined. Western sociologists and political scientists have drawn attention to the importance of the process of political socialization. Based on the scientific thought formed in foreign countries, the author analyzes two independent approaches that determine the nature of the political socialization of young people \u2014 the primary, where the main agent is traditionally the family and the secondary, where a specific social institution is defined as an agent \u2014 the school. The author, based on the results of VTSIOM, shows not only quantitative and qualitative indicators characterizing the process of political socialization of the modern youth of our country, but also establishes certain correlations with other forms used to influence the minds of young people. First of all, the mechanisms by which specific influence on young people is carried out in order to form certain political preferences among them are shown. Considering that the bulk of the methods aimed at the formation of political socialization of young people have been developed by Western specialists, then the purpose of their creation is quite obvious \u2014 using them as one of the means of information warfare.
