Abstract. The article reveals the discourse of the processes of political socialization of modern youth, analyzes the problems of political participation of youth, and highlights the features of institutional and non-institutional forms of political participation. The role of modern digital platforms and social networks in stimulating various non-conventional forms of political participation is stated. The conclusion is made about the strategic importance of online media, which have significantly expanded the channels of dissemination of political information, formed a model of decentralized political communication, which has a significant impact on the development of political values and behavioral norms by young people. Based on the interpretation of secondary sociological data, the article draws a conclusion about the role of informal communications in young people’s mastery of the practices of political participation. The study revealed the importance of informal communication platforms (youth club/center, media, non-profit organizations, social movement, etc.). The article states the significant potential of youth political activity; the study revealed the acceptance by the majority of youth of such forms of political participation as: joining a party, signing petitions, participating in demonstrations, etc. The conclusions allow us to state the importance of political science and civic education for youth, the need for patriotic education, and the formation of a civic position youth and rational political consciousness.
